Building Permit Bond - May be required of general contractors, builders, electricians, plumbers, and mechanical contractors applying for a permit to erect, construct, or repair a building. The surety bond provides compensation to the County if the permit holder fails to perform construction up to permit regulations and/or if any permit/penalty fees are left unpaid. If you need to cancel or renew this bond due to changes in the status of your building permit, give Jet a call at 855-296-2663 and our team will help you out right away.
Contractor Registration Bond - This may act as a prerequisite for obtaining a certificate of registration to work as a specialty, residential, or commercial contractor within the County (roofing, pool construction, landscaping, and yard sprinkler installation work falls under the specialty construction category). The surety bond may act as a form of restitution to any party that has suffered financial damages due to the contractor committing a violation of construction regulations.
Details regarding construction standards and license/permit requirements can be found in Chapter 18 of the Columbia County, GA Municode.
Certificates of registration expire on December 31st each year, so please plan accordingly. Further details on Jet’s cancellation and renewal process can be found via the links at the bottom of the page.
Timber Harvesting License Bond - May be required to accompany a license application for harvesting timber within county limits. If the County is faced with having to re-ditch/repair existing ditch structures or remove harvesting residue (i.e. treetops, debris, logs, pulpwood, or any other timber materials) within a public right-of-way area due to the business violating the terms of their license, a claim might be filed on the bond to cover such costs. Additional details on what is expected of timber harvesting licensees can be found in Chapter 22 of the Columbia County, GA Municode.
