City of East Point Surety Bond Details

General Contractor Bond - Required of general contractors that are applying for a construction permit. The bond has a standard $25,000 limit and approval from the Chief Building Official is needed. Permit and building regulations pursuant to Chapter 3 of the East Point, GA Municode are to be followed. During construction and for a period of one year following the execution of the project, the contractor is responsible for correcting any code violations discovered by the Planning and Community Development Department right away. If the contractor does not comply with these terms, the Department can choose to file a claim against the bond in question.

Tradesman Bond - This surety bond has the exact same terms and conditions as the General Contractor Bond described above, however, it is required of electrical, plumbing, and HVAC contractors. In addition, the bond has a $10,000 required limit instead.

Unlike most permit bonds, the General Contractor Bond and the Tradesman Bond may be canceled at any time. All you need to do is send a written request to bonds@jetsurety.com and once received, the Jet team will send a termination notice to the East Point Planning and Community Development Department. The liability of the bond will then be released within a 30-day period.

City Contract Bonds - The Planning and Community Development Department may require a Bid Bond, Performance Bond, Payment Bond, and/or a Maintenance Bond of any contractor that is entering into a contract with the City of East Point. If mandated, the contractor is responsible for complying with permit regulations pursuant to Chapter 4 of the East Point, GA Municode, as well as the terms and conditions of their contract. Failure to uphold such obligations may result in the Department filing a bond claim.

Land Development Bond - May be required of any property owner or developer that is applying for a land disturbance permit. The bond limit must be equal to $3,000 for every acre within the land-disturbing activity. Regulations pursuant to Chapter 10 of the East Point, GA Municode, and most importantly, the permit holder is responsible for stabilizing the construction site and bringing it into compliance once the project has been completed. Failure to do so may lead to the Planning and Community Development Department filing a claim against the permittee’s bond.

License/Permit Bond - Other than the bonds already listed on this page, the City of East Town may require additional License/Permit Bonds. If this is the case, contact Jet at 855-296-2663 and we will help you out right away!
