The Fulton County Public Works Department requires a Utility Maintenance Bond prior to a property owner, developer, or contractor receiving approval for a permit to work on county water or sewer lines.
The Utility Maintenance Bond limit is determined by the Public Works Department and is based on a percentage of the overall cost of the work to be performed, as well as expected administrative fees. A $5,000 minimum bond amount is required.
At Jet, approved prices for the Utility Maintenance Bond are a small fraction of the bond limit and are based on a soft credit check of the applicant. If the property owner, developer, or contractor is in need of a bond amount higher than $15k, a review of business finances may be necessary.
Various bond limit examples and Jet’s available rates can be found in the chart below. As you can see, prices start at just $100 for a one-year bond term. If you’re interested in starting the application process, select the “Apply for Your Bond” button at the top of the page.

The property owner, developer, or contractor in question is responsible for upholding the obligations of the utility permit, as well as applicable regulations pursuant to the Fulton County, GA Municode.
Following the completion of the water and/or sewer line work, the permit holder must fulfill all county maintenance requests for a period of 36 months. This requirement is mandated to ensure that the county will be protected from defective materials or poor workmanship. If the permit holder does not comply with these conditions, a claim may be filed on the Utility Maintenance Bond. In most cases, funds from the claim would be used by the Public Works Department to hire a new contractor to complete the maintenance work properly.
