The County of Putnam requires a surety bond for certain trades or businesses. Such bonds are the $25,000 Contractor’s License Bond, $5,000 Timber Harvesting Bond, Road Acceptance Bond, and Land Disturbance Bond.

Contractor’s License Bond: A $25,000 surety bond that is required for contractors who are not required to be licensed by the State of Georgia. This bond is conditioned upon the contractor following Putnam County Building Codes and other applicable regulations. (Putnam County Code of Ordinances, Section 18-72)
Timber Harvesting Bond: A $5,000 surety bond required for a Timber Harvesting Permit. The bond is conditioned upon the faithful performance of harvesting, cutting, or removing standing timber. Claims on the bond can be filed to repair damages to county roads or rights-of-way from timber harvesting operations. (Putnam County Code of Ordinances, Section 46-82)
Road Acceptance Bond: This bond limit shall be in the amount of $5,000 per 100 feet of linear roadway or $6,000 with curb and gutter. It is one of the requirements for submitting a Request for Road Acceptance. (Putnam County Code of Ordinances, Section 28-82)
Land Disturbance Bond: This bond limit shall be in the amount of $3,000 per acre (or fraction of acre) of land-disturbing activity. Claims can be filed for a contractor’s permit violations or Code violations to account for bringing the land-disturbing activity back into compliance. (Putnam County Code of Ordinances, Section 30-34)
Annually-purchased surety bonds will need to be renewed and Jet makes it easy. Just look out for a renewal notice near the end of your bond term in your mailbox or email inbox. To cancel your bond, send us an email at bonddept@jetsurety.com. We will request cancellation from Putnam County but will be bound to any cancellation provisions enforced by the County or mentioned on the bond form; for example, bonds often have a 30-day cancellation period or may only be released when work is completed.
