Contractor Bond: Contractors in Thomas County will need to file a Typical License Bond (can be referred to as a Contractor’s Bond) as protection for the County and its people against defective or careless workmanship. The $1,000 bond is required for building contractors, while the $5,000 is required for electrical, plumbing, and heating and air contractors. The bond will provide compensation for any defects the contractor fails to correct.
Subdivision Maintenance/Warranty Bond: A contractor making improvements to the County infrastructure will need to file a Maintenance/Warranty Bond. Claims on the bond will come from the contractor’s failure to correct deficiencies in the installation, construction, or maintenance of the subdivision improvements. The bond’s limit shall be a percentage of the cost of the improvements.
Land Disturbance Bond: A contractor who receives a land-disturbing permit will need to file a surety bond in the amount of $3,000 per acre (or part thereof). The contractor’s failure to comply with regulations or permit specifications may result in a claim.

It is conditioned on the dealer following Chapter 22, Article II of the Thomas County Code of Ordinances and reporting any stolen property (or suspected stolen property) or suspicious persons. Claims on the bond can be filed to compensate for damages of a dealer failing to comply with these obligations.
